My family does NOT play pickle ball and honestly has no idea how to even do it. But I saw this set of pickle balls and decided it would be something we could use. So I ordered them.
You get 12 balls in the set that look like wiffle balls to me. But as I read the description on Amazon, I realized how much science goes in to crafting them. There are 26 precisely drilled holes in each ball that are designed to allow the ball better balanced flight. They are seamless, being one solid piece. And they are 20 grams in weight and 2.9 inches in size. They come in green or yellow, being brightly colored to allow you to see them easily regardless of background.
But all of the science aside, I picked them up for the baby and the dogs. She is fascinated with balls, so I thought these would be a great way for her to collect some new toys to throw around that wouldn't damage things. And if she doesn't like them, the dogs will. She is able to pick them up easily, though she prefers to stick her finger in the holes when picking them up.
Unfortunately, the dogs chewed up two of them within half an hour of us playing. So don't think these will stand up to power chewers, because they won't. Of course, my power chewers are extreme, and my dogs are huge. My mastiff had no problem and didn't chew them up or squish them. But my Aussie/pit mix is my destructo-dog and chewed one to tiny pieces in no time at all, then was trying to start on a second one when I took it away. I am still letting the dogs play with some, while keeping a few for the baby, but all of them have to be watched closely the entire time.
