Doesn't count change correctly

I got this for my son for Christmas thinking he would enjoy keeping track of his change. The top is made of a cheap plastic and takes batteries ( which reset the meter if you take them out and replace them). The issue is if you do not put the coins in the slot exactly perfect it counts it as something else - ex : You place a dime in the slot, it registers a quarter. I was very disappointed in this as a gift for him because it never worked as intended.
I gave it two stars only because this seems to be an issue with all coin counting jars and not just this one, this one is just more sensitive and is wrong about 95% of the time. I would suggest just saving your money and teaching your child to count and keep track of their savings.
