I actually really like this make-up from Ebanel Labs; it is called Alpha to Omega+ Sherbet Cleanser. I normally dislike make-up removers for one of two reasons. They are either exfoliating and can be rather painful to rub in enough to actually remove the make-up or they are harsh on your skin. This cleanser, however, is a balm that you rub into your hands and then apply to your face. The container comes with about 110ml of the balm. Based on the amount required to clean your face, I would expect the container to last for quite a while. For me, I expect it will last closer to three months if I wear make-up every day. At $10.99 for the jar, that is certainly more affordable than some of the make-up removers that you can find at the store these days.
This cleanser is actually very simple to use. You use the included spatula to get about a quarter size pile of it in your hand. When you rub your hands together, the balm heats up and melts into an oil that you smooth into your skin in circular motions. Once it is applied to your face, you add a bit of warm water and continue to rub it into your skin until it is completely emulsified or the make-up is gone. The balm goes from a translucent color to completely invisible other than your skin looking wet when it turns to oil. When you add the water, it looks similar to soap but doesn’t lather up or bubble quite as much as a soap would.
The product worked well to remove the make-up from my face, although I will say that like many cleansers I found a bit of the make-up remained if I used the product before my shower. When I used it after my shower, it was able to remove all traces of the make-up that remained after the shower, or at least all traces that I could see. In addition to being a reasonably effective make-up remover, this product also removes excess oil from the skin. My skin is generally a “Normal” skin tone, but it did a nice job of removing some of the excess oil that I occasionally get on my forehead after going to the gym. A friend of mine who has oily skin tried it as well and said that it did a great job of removing the oil in the short term. She did not get the chance to use it for enough days to test whether or not it could reduce the overall oiliness of her skin, however.
Overall, I was impressed with the product. I would definitely recommend it as a facial cleanser to remove make-up or excess oil from your face. My final rating would give this product a 4 out of 5.
