I used to love to cook but I hate to clean up. I would throw everything in the dishwasher if I could. And there is nothing more fun that coming home and finding a sink full of dishes my kids have found in their room after so many days of fermenting and then the food has to be scrubbed off until it can go in the dishwasher. In comes the stinky sponge.
I grew up washing dishes with a dishcloth which I absolutely hated. I jumped on the sponge bandwagon in college and have tried everything. I cannot stand the smell of a sour, mildewish sponge. The way your hands smell if you pick it up – UGH. I have even tried microwaving them to kill bacteria and last a little longer. But that doesn’t work.
The last straw for regular sponges for me was a few weeks ago. My kids left the sponge in the bottom of the sink. It was brand new so I didn’t think anything about it. I washed out my cup and lid and made a drink for the car. And then I smelled my hands, and my cup and my drink and UGH – so gross!
My mother-in-law has a few antibacterial silicone sponges so I thought I would switch and see how it went. This silicone sponge pack from Amazon came with one two squares and oval sponge. So I thought I would put my chief dishwasher to the test.
My daughter stated they felt funny compared to a regular sponge but they were relatively easy to use and removed some built up food on an old plastic container that we normally have to scrub before we put in the dishwasher. The pink oval shaped sponge can be used to help clean glasses these sponges would even be great for scrubbing vegetables.
They are also heat resistant and microwave safe. The best part is that they are easy to wash off and don’t smell at all.
I received this product at a discount for review. All opinions are my own or my daughters.
