Built Well But With Drawbacks

This retractable dog leash is a nice new addition to my collection of pet supplies. The product arrived in good condition. There was no damage to the box or the product itself. The product is primarily green and black and appears to match other Pecute products that I have purchased. I think it is a nice touch that their product line comes in matching colors, although it is certainly not a necessity. This is not the first Pecute product that I have tried, and so far I have been comfortably impressed with them all.

The leash appears to be quite sturdy. I tested the leash on a D-ring and I was unable to make it snap off by yanking, tugging, or twisting. The clasp seems to be well-designed and strong enough to withstand a reasonable amount of pressure. According to the box, the leash is suitable for a pulling strength of 50 kilograms or 110 pounds, so I would not get this leash for any larger dogs. The Amazon listing indicates that this leash is good for dogs up to 100 pounds, but I would recommend it for small or medium dogs only.

The leash is a decent length, although it could have been a bit longer, at five meters or a bit of 16 feet long. It is certainly long enough to allow your dog to explore though without fear of the dog getting too far away from you. The grip is comfortable in my hands without being too thick or clunky. The Brake button seemed to work as intended and it was not difficult to push in or to use. It retracts easily and quickly, but not so quickly that I am worried that it will snap up and hit some one which has happened with other dog leashes I have seem.

There are some drawbacks to this product. The leash is made of a firm, almost metallic material that I imagine could be quite painful if you ran into it moving quickly or got it twisted around you from an energetic dog. It is also a bit lighter weight, which is nice for carrying it, but I do have some concerns about the longevity of the product. That said, I haven’t had any issues with it so far at all. I will say that it is tricky to lock the leash because there is only one button instead of a separate brake and lock button.

Overall, I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars because of the lock button issue and the potential issues with the leash long term.
