This is a pair of battery-operated CO detectors, for protecting your family from deadly CO gas. They operate on electricity from 3-AA batteries (not included). They have digital displays indicating level of CO, battery life, etc. You mount the base to your wall with mounting screws and anchors (included), then attach the unit to the base by lining up tabs and turning to lock in place.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors are absolutely necessary in any home heated by natural gas or propane gas. Carbon monoxide gas is odorless and colorless, yet deadly. Any gas appliance, when malfunctioning, can produce deadly levels of this gas, yet most homes don't have any way of detecting dangerous levels of CO. It is such a problem that our State Dept of Hum Services requires CO detectors for any foster home or daycare center operating within their state.
CO is also produced by any running engine, such as a vehicle in the garage, a generator, etc. Over 500 people die each year in the USA as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.
