Curvy Barbie has a more ample body style than other Barbies. I think it is great that Mattel is coming out with the various body style Barbies that allow children of different shapes and sizes to relate more easily to their dolls. Curvy Barbie is exactly that, a little larger in scale compared to regular Barbies but proportioned extremely well within her own size and shape.
Everything about this doll is a little larger (except for her height as she is the same height as a regular Barbie. Her arms are a little thicker, her thighs a little more so. Her hips and body are larger in scale, too. Her feet, calves, ankles are too. Her hands are about the same size as regular Barbie. Her closed mouth face mold seems to be new as well as it is certainly wider in size with beautiful prominent cheekbones.
She has long side-parted blond hair (with no stiffening product in it.) She has light tan skin, light blue eyes, and pink lips with no nail polish.
Her left arm is straight and her right arm is bent. Her fingers are mostly separated except the third and fourth finger of each hand are fused. Her legs do not bent except at the hips and they seem to be hollow rather than the solid vinyl of older dolls.
Barbie is wearing a one piece dress that appears to be two separate pieces. The bottom, miniskirt is bright yellow and is gathered at the waist. The top portion of the dress is a slink material but is made to look like distressed denim. Barbie has on black flat shoes (to match her flat feet.) and a bright, Barbie pink, plastic belt.
There are now versions of Curvy Barbie that has additional outfits but I am hoping that Mattel will come out with outfits separately. Shoes are especially difficult for these new body shape Barbies as their feet are all different sizes and use the new, more natural flat foot.
