Growing up my mom always used eyebrown pencils as part of her daily make up routine. But I never really liked using them myself. I thought my eyebrows looked too thick and didn't need them, so never incorporated them in to my make up. But as I have gotten older, I have found myself beginning to pick at my eyes and eyebrows when I get stressed or overtired and have had a few times they were patchy and needed something to help hide it.
Learning to use eyebrow pencils has not been the easiest thing for me. I have found it to be very unnatural looking and have struggled to get the look I want. I prefer a more natural look, unlike what most make up artists today are painting on, so don't usually do anything to my brows at all. But I have been experimenting more and have been able to help disguise thinner areas without making them look like I had colored in a spot on my face while neglecting the rest. They have worked okay for that purpose.
There is the pencil in the package and two refills. Each one is a different color. When I used them on my hand, there wasn't very much variance between the three colors. Even the blonde color is a little darker than I am used to and needing, so they other two are far too dark for my eyebrows. I am not sure what I will be doing with them.
The pencil has a twist top on it that allows you to sharpen it. Actually, I am not sure why they call them self-sharpening when that is not what they do. There is no sharpening to it. But they twist and allow you access to more. It goes on smoothly and is easy to create lines and fill in. I was impressed with how long it lasted, but it washed off easily with my Micellar water that I use to remove all of my makeup.
I don't know that I would buy this set again simply because I don't have need for the colors that are included in the replacements. I also don't really use eyebrow pencils all that much. But for those who DO use them, this is a nice set and works great.
