This lantern is so useful because it is portable, compact, convenient and has magnets on the bottom so I can put it on the metal side of the barn to see with and it stays put. To use it I installed 3 AA batteries and screwed the bottom back on after installation, then pulled the lantern open by the handle for the light. If the light is too bright, all I have to do is push the lid down partway to have less light. I keep it by the door so when I need to go out at night on the farm, I can quickly grab it by the handles, open it up for light and go see what the horses are running in the pasture for (either coyotes or other wildlife bothering them). I really like this light, it is a must-have at our home.
