Wonderful little device! My first experience with an emulation handheld.
The screen is gorgeous for such a low price device. The sound is great considering there’s only one speaker on the bottom right of the device.
The HDMI connection is a great plus! I generally use it handheld but the option to play it on a TV or monitor without too much clarity loss is great!
Majority of the emulators provided work wonderfully! With there only being one screen it’s a bit awkward to play DS games on but it’s possible with a bit of customisation (see photo showing the bottom screen in the top right)
Some improvements would be so so welcome however.
1. The TF/Memory card slot in the device isn’t a “push to eject” slot so I made the mistake of pushing the memory card further in on my first try at getting it out. Requires the use of some tweezers to pull it out.
2. Some of the emulators provided haven’t been the best to use for me. I’ve had to purchase a couple myself off the App Store to get things running smoothly. Thankfully since the device is based on android, you get this option! Not the end of the world. Drastic emulator for Nintendo DS for example is one I’ve had to purchase.
3. Shoulder buttons would’ve been SO welcome here! Some consoles require multiple shoulder buttons such as the PS1 or N64 and its really hard to come up with a solution for this on the buttons provided. The buttons can get a bit confusing especially when moving from one emulator to another since the original devices have different button layouts.
Overall I’m really impressed by the device and it’s ability to run the majority (if not all) of my favourite games with ease. Some games require some adjusting in the settings to get them running smoothly but most are ok with the default settings.
Worth the purchase price of £64 :)
