I live on a small townhouse with very little room for a garden. Actually the only available area is about 3 foot by 4 foot. This year I planted one grape tomato plant, and it not only took over that entire area, but it extended so far out onto my sidewalk that I kept having to fold it over on top of itself, and it still thrived. So, I knew I’d have to find a new solution for next year, and this is absolutely perfect. It can actually be used two ways and I’m going to purchase another one, now that I’ve seen it, and utilize both ways.
First, it can be sat on a flat surface. I have a stone bench next to my little ‘garden’ area that is just for décor’, I’m going to set one of these on it. I don’t know what I’m going to plant in it yet, but it will be flowers that vine. It will look so pretty spilling over the bench.
The second way to utilize this is to mount it like a window box. That is what I’m most excited about. I can attach this under my window and plant the tomatoes in it. I just increased my garden space exponentially by utilizing space that was not being used. They will have 5 feet of unused space to vine down and it will be so much easier to pick the tomatoes. I’m quite excited to put this into play.
It’s a very pretty box, good and sturdy. The 4 individual pots fit in exact, so they set securely. The pots fit in at an angle, and the sides have open 3 inch slots to allow rain to get in, circulate, and the overflow to exit out of the bottom. The white box will allow about an inch of water to remain for the plants to self water. Anything over that and there are 4 overflow holes. The hardware is a dark contrast and has an antique brown look to it, so it looks awesome as well as being functional. Very excited for next year and the best garden I’ve had in nearly a decade!
