This is actually a "Flat Cap" and was popular back in the 1920's but can be traced back in the United States to as early as the 1890's. It's often mistaken for a Newsboy cap or Gatsby cap which is similar however the Gatsby cap/Newsboy cap was not formed to the shape of the head but more round and fluffy with a snap on the top center of the hat. This M MOACC Flat Hat is formed to the shape of a head and the front slopes flat in front similar to a duck bill. The design allows the cap to stay put when it's windy outside or when riding a bike.
This style is becoming popular again and I love the new patterns that M MOACC offer. They have several to choose from. This one has many different panels sewn together in various stitching. It is best described as patchwork. I think it gives the old flat cap a new hip look and that is why it is becoming popular again. Not to mention it is comfortable. It is well sewn to last a long time too. At first, my husband was skeptical because he had always worn a baseball cap but once he tried it on he loved it.
The hat is made from cotton fabric and has a strap in back. The strap is made of fabric and not irritating plastic. It has two snaps so it can be adjusted. The brim is stiff and contours nicely to the side. According to my husband, it is very comfortable and he prefers this type of hat over the baseball style.
If your looking for a good quality Flat Cap with style I highly recommend M MOACC there designs and patterns are wonderful.
