For my nephew's last birthday he was given a play kitchen and a little play tent to put it in. Ever since then, every time I visit he grabs my hand, pulls me into his kitchen, and we'll spend the next half an hour to an hour sitting in there preparing, cooking, serving, and eating pretend food together. He absolutely loves it. Because he loves playing with that kitchen so much I wanted to get him some play food to expand the game a bit and give it an extra dimension. This search brought me to this vegetable cutting play set.
When this set arrived I couldn't wait to open it up and see if it was as good as the pictures on Amazon made it look. I can tell you I was not disappointed! They come in a very nice sturdy box, which I'm sure my nephew won't care about but having seen so many sets that are posted in just a plastic bag, it's a nice touch that his uncle appreciates. Inside the box is the set of toy vegetables, a toy cutting knife, and a toy cutting board, all kept together in a clear plastic bag. Lifting this out of the box you'll find a set of stickers and a very nice apron beneath it.
The vegetables themselves look great and feel as though they are excellent quality. They're made of plastic, are painted well with fantastic detail, although mine had a few slight marks on a couple of pieces (nothing my nephew will notice or care about), and they have very strong velcro holding each vegetable together. I had a go at cutting a few pieces in half and was surprised at how well the velcro holds the pieces together. I thought I'd just push down easily with the knife and they'd simply pop open, but no, it holds so well that you really need to use a proper cutting motion to split the velcro. That felt really quite realistic to me and I am sure my nephew will love it when he gets his hands on them.
I have bought this set to give my nephew for Christmas so I can't tell you right now what he really thinks of it but having had a play with this toy myself I have no doubt in my mind that he will love it.
I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would thoroughly recommend this to any parents, uncles, or aunts, who have a budding chef in their family!
