Ever since I was a kid I have loved doing art. Despite all of the various media that I have used, I have never tried an airbrush but always wanted to. However, I did not have or want a buky, noisy air compressor taking up space. Now, since I have a 3D printer, I wanted an airbrush to paint the 3D models that I print.
Fortunately, I stumbled across this awesome, high-quality portable airbrush kit by COSSCCI. This airbrush kit comes in a sturdy black box with foam cutouts that protect your investment well...plus it looks cool. The kit includes an airbrush, a rechargeable mini compressor, a bag with various tools, and a USB-A charging wire. This charging wire can be used anywhere you have a 5-volt power source like a wall charging adapter, a laptop, a power bank, etc... This plugs into the compressor and at the end of the wire is an LED indicator to tell you when charging is complete.
The airbrush itself is single-action (air constantly flows and the paint only when the trigger is pulled back) and includes a mini compressor screwed right into the airbrush itself! This is huge because it means that you have an ultra-portable airbrush that you can take anywhere. There is no need for a heavy compressor in order to paint! The craftsmanship is excellent and does not feel cheap. If you happen to own a dual-action airbrush (airflow and paint flow can be controlled independently when the trigger is depressed and pulled back), this airbrush kit includes an adapter so you can easily swap between single and dual-action brushes.
This airbrush fully disassembles for thorough cleaning. There is s screw at the end to control the feel and travel of the trigger which is helpful. The airbrush includes a large, gravity-fed paint reservoir that, for me, lasted the entire time I painted with it. The reservoir cap is easy to remove but also stays in place. I dropped the airbrush on my desk a few times and the cap held and spared me a nasty cleanup. While painting, the spray was smooth and even. Once I learn how to thin my paints properly, I am sure they will flow that much better.
My compressor is Red but you can also get it in Black or Gold. The compressor pumps out an impressive amount of air, is fairly lightweight, looks cool, is controlled via a single on/off button and best of all is rechargeable. Per the manufacturer, on a full charge, you can get up to 50 minutes of use. It is a great, handy, solidly--built little device that fits nicely in your hand while using.
You can use this airbrush for countless applications such as used for art painting, cake decorating, make-up, on nails, with handicrafts, on models, as body paint, etc... In my photos, I have included a quick painting of a human eye that I did. I used a thinned down Liquitex acrylic paint (not included). The paint colors used were ivory black, ultramarine blue, and titanium white for the highlights. I still need to learn proper airbrush control/technique and had a tricky time creating thin lines. Good or bad, to enhance and sharpen my edges and eyelashes I used a black Sharpie to finish the painting. It was a quick test after all. I think it turned out fairly well for my first time!
This is a fantastic product for a beginner like me. If you are in the market for a well-constructed, capable airbrush and want to ditch that clunky compressor, check this out!
