I am surprised to see so many glorifying reviews for this product when it's not even worth a star. Honestly I believe they are paid reviews since they are all back to back. I understand every pregnant woman and me including excited an thrilled to hear babys heartbeat but if they had/have to do the same what I did then no please stop harming your baby.

Just to be clear I am a nurse and I have used various dopler monitors with different mhz probes at work for various medical tests and I have a pretty lengthy experience and knowledge how to use them and how clear it should sound. Also, I used to have one at home with my second pregnancy but I donated it afterwards and regret it so much.

This cost me $30 when ordered and price had gone way up since then. I was 19.5 weeks pregnant when this finally arrived at which point I should've been able easily and clearly hear my baby's heartbeat just like at OB's office. They just put their probe over my belly without having to push it in and boom I can hear my baby nice and clear. I know their monitors are medical/professional ones and have clearer sound and cost hundrens of dollars. I also know that it's harder to hear baby's hearbeat if woman carries excessive fat around her belly and I have to admit I do have a little fat but not a lot and I am certainly not obese. So, I applied ultrasound gel on my belly, turned on this device and started slowly moving it around. To be short I heard nothing until I literally had to press this device far into my belly to the point that it felt very uncomfortable and I wanted to pee. I was scared I might be squishing him, I heard his hearbeat and stopped right away I felt horrible of what I have done and cried like crazy.

Device and my hand were covered in gel, it was a huge mess! Design of this monitor has major flows, first of all its very uncomfortable to hold it in my hand. And it also can and will become hazardous since battery compartment is right underneath this device and ultrasound gel easily gets into it and if not cleaned and checked it can cause batteries to leak.

I ordered another device with a probe on ebay just like the one OB uses. It cost $25 with LED screen that shows babys heart rate and I don't have to stick it into my belly to be able to hear babys hearbeat. Of course its not as clear as the ones at OB and there is some static but again I dont have to squish my baby for my selfish needs to hear him. All these devices look the same and most likely come from the same manufacturer in China, the only difference is the logo/brand names they have them stamp on them. Look them up on ebay you will find these very same monitors for less and do yourself a favor get the one with probe. If money not an issue I would suggest renting professional ones or buying one.

Good luck to all Moms. Be safe, think safe.
