I got this microphone as a back up for my blue yeti, that is considered to be the gold standard for home recording for either podcast or gaming. Does this compare, or comes close to blue yeti? Yes it does!

For starters the price versus the quality of the overall construction is very good. The only weak point I would say for the construction is a vibration reduction holder that has a plastic head to screw on the arm that is metallic so it is likely that this can become of strain in my break in the future.

Now the thing that really matters: the audio quality. I'm using this microphone with a mac and it works flawlessly. As you can see from the attached screenshot it recognized it at the audio sources and it was essentially plug-and-play. One of the major things with all these microphones is to adjust the gain while maintaining a very low level of finding noise. That's where the biggest difference with a yeti or similar microphone comes in where this one does not have a hardware knob but you can use adjust the gain but you can do that directly from your settings on your computer. You can also use a more specialized software for recording that will allow you to modulate a little bit the noise levels and make sure that the quality of the overall recording is very good. From my settings using both the pop filter and the foam cup I found it audio levels to around 20% we are sufficient to produce a good audio recording level and very low almost nonexistent ambient noise.

The arm is a very good construction, lightweight, and at good length which makes it ideal for my home office.

Other than these two very small points (they probably weak shock head and the lack of a gain knob) this microphone offers really good audio quality and it's a great starting point for an amateur Podcaster or gamer who wants a little bit better than phone headset to record his voice during streaming.

Needless to say that if you want to make a career as a recording artist or a Podcaster that might not be the best microphone for you but there's a good starting point. You always have to keep in mind what you can buy with the money spent. If you want to use this for just regular casual streaming, teleconferencing, or any other application that you want to speak to people but you want the quality to be better than what you get from a lapel microphone or definitely way better than what you get from your built-in microphone this is the way to go. If you want to record your net album.. uh maybe not. I am tired of people spending $60 on a microphone and expect this to work like $2000 professional microphone.
