I have been using ceramic heat bulbs in our chick brooders because they are so much safer than traditional heat bulbs but they also do not give off any light so my chicks know when it is time to wake and time to sleep. This does not mess with their internal body time clocks. It keeps my chicks warm without being a fire hazard.
